By nature of our (award-winning) personalities, Cylinda goes with the flow and I make all the plans. I like reserving hotels and cars and deciding where to go and what to do and she likes following orders from me. Isn't that right, Cylinda?
I'm really not a schedule nazi at all, but I do always have on my mind what we're doing next or what we could be doing next when we're on vacation. I feel like I'm wasting time by just sitting around in a new place instead of doing things in a new place.
But this trip was different. I sat around a lot (as the pictures showed) and didn't think about what we HAD to do. I just lived in the moment and it was nice. It helped that the weather was beautiful all week and I didn't have to do all this sitting in the hotel room.
France (insert almost any other country) is really different from the US, but I didn't feel out of place. On the contrary, it seemed like a good fit and so I didn't feel compelled to go and do everything because everything that was in front of me, at any moment, felt like the right thing to do.
And yes, that includes eating olive oil out of an ashtray.
