lost in Lyon Day 6: April 2, 2009
- I wasn't really lost because I have a powerful inner compass that always knows which way is north. But I had to pull out a map in the Croix-Rousse district and I hated that. I felt vulnerable, as if my honking big camera didn't give away that I was a tourist.
- Visited Insitut Lumiere where I saw the first film that was ever made. Ever.
- It wasn't that interesting (workers leaving a factory) but it was significant and those people in that film live in Jeopardy trivia infamy.
- There was a market set up in front of the Institut where I really wanted a roasted chicken for 4 €. But then I thought rationally.
- Took the metro to the Croix-Rousse district where it was all hills. Not a fun neighborhood to live in.
- Shower partitions are in the Top 10 of most useless inventions. There's no point to them.
- Woke up early next morning to catch the shuttle to the airport.
- My internal alarm is a precision instrument. I had programmed the hotel wake-up call, 2 cell phone alarms and Cylinda to call me at 5 am. I woke up on my own at 4:50.
- My transportation methods in this trip: plane, train, coach bus, taxi, metro and shuttle bus. I'm missing a boat.
- Lyon had a hard time charming me, but I don't think any big city could've won me over after Annecy.
- I'd return to Annecy in a heartbeat.
- I miss Tresor cereal.
- A very large group of frenchies traveled all the way back to Atlanta with me. Relentless, they are, those frenchies.
They were doing Cirque du Soleil stuff long before Cirque du Soleil. See, this is evidence from inside the Institut Lumiere.
