When it comes to hot wings, lots of people think theirs is the best. I'm not here to argue; I don't have your taste buds and frankly, I don't want them. Really, keep your tongue to yourself. My point is...oh yeah, my favorite wings are the ones I make. Duh. Of course.

Well, I made a whole bunch last weekend in preparation for all the football game watching. And today, they're all still uneaten, sitting in the fridge. Why? An emergency room visit, clear liquid diet, bland (flavorless) food diet, a doctor's visit and medication kinda all got in the way.

Why? (you ask again because you care, don't you?) Because I tried to be good and eat some damn tofu on Saturday night. Stupid tofu, that's why. I hate tofu. I've resisted it all my life. I've never willingly chose it before and after this, I never will again. One chance you had there, tofu, and you royally f'ed it up.

Nice. You send me to the ER and you keep my from my beloved wings. You're on the list now. You know the list; the one that includes...water chestnuts. Oh yes, THAT list.

During my summer of drugs or some other Isabelle-induced haze, I completely missed the release of Lori McKenna's new album in August. This is her first album after Faith Hill, talentless but pretty!, "discovered" (haha) LM and made her a country supastah. Mr. Faith Hill (Tim McGraw) even produced this and produced and slightly soul-less it is, although that's never stopped me from enjoying such music, right Backstreet Boys?

The album as a whole still has a LM sound and that's all I care about. Ok, that's a lie. I kinda care that she's all air-brushed and Nashville-ized but that mostly comes from some possessive "I knew her before you did, Faith" feeling. I have issues with Faith Hill is what I'm saying and more so than ever now that she does the opening on NBC's Sunday Night Football. It's just so bad. I know, I'm going to have to work through this...on my own time.

Anyway, Lori McKenna's album is called Unglamorous and it's available everywhere. There's a re-do of Falter, which is really better in its first incarnation on the Kitchen Tapes. My favorite so far is Your Next Lover, a typical LM song. Note that typical = freaking awesome. This woman can do very little wrong since I saw her before Faith did on Miss Folk America years ago. Have you seen that little schlock opera, Faith? Have you? Hmmmm?

Ugly Betty
The second season is starting out well and like last year, it's cramming season-long plots into one or two episodes. That's brave! What if they run out of ideas by January? I guess it doesn't matter as long as Vanessa Williams keeps playing Wilhemina as cartoony and evil as possible.

Chuck
After three episodes, I think I like this show. I'm not someone who needs to watch TV (ever) so new shows don't get much of a chance, but this one is fun and funny. Plus, it has Yvonne Strahovski (at right) who can look like whoever you want her to look like. She's Christine Taylor (Hey Dude!) to me and Elizabeth Rohm (Law and Order) to Cylinda. We could put our hands together but I'd want more Christine and she'd want more Elizabeth in the mix. We're going to ignore the fact that maybe Christine Taylor and Elizabeth Rohm look like each other. Cause they don't.

Reaper
I haven't caught up with Tivo yet so going on just two episodes, I'm still not sure about this one. The lead character Sam is such a nice guy, but his best friend needs to have a lot less scenes. There seems to be a formula to the plot that could get old quick. At least the devil is a little unpredictable (and fashionable!).

Reba
I have no good reason why I watch this (now syndicated) show except maybe that it's fascinating in how many stupid characters one show can carry. I know every show has stupid people in it, but the depth and sheer amount of stupidity here is hilarious. There are 2 non-stupid people in a cast of 7. That there is good odds that the humor won't be mean-spirited or insulting. It's just stupid humor and I shouldn't admit it, but I really GET it.

Yeah, I shoulda kept that to myself.

I don't care that she barely escapes the medical definition of a midget. Look at that smile!

I do kinda care that she looks like she's selling rain jackets for REI. Look at that frou-frou design!

Chillaxin' with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama (Emory Wheel, 10/22/2007)

It was a real honor to have the opportunity to hear the Dalai Lama speak. His life of compassion and kindness is a truly good example for the entire human race.

Heck, I was even moved by his speech when he spoke of being filled with positive and constructive emotions and getting rid of the negativity within oneself so that in any situation, only positive energy can come out because the negativity doesn't exist. I think I'm actually going to try to apply that to my life.

Wish me luck! Actually, I'll check back in a few weeks to see if I've found my inner peace. It won't take much longer than that, right?

Just kidding! I have no idea how to get rid of the little angry monster inside (and oftentimes outside) of me. But I'm going to try.
