Changing myFaves ringtones
PSA Alert: This is going to be worthless for anyone who either doesn't use the T-Mobile myFaves service plan or is smarter than me (shut up, it's not that many people).
If you agree with the following statements:
- I would like to assign different ringtones for each myFave contact.
- I tried setting the ringtones through Phonebook > Contact list, but it still keeps playing that damn default jingle.
- I don't have the myFaves display showing on the main screen.
Well, you can stop pulling out your hair. Here's the solution:
- Go to Settings > MyFaves settings > Show display.
- Back out to the main screen.
- Press the OK button.
- Press the Options (soft left key) button.
- Select Edit Profile.
- Scroll down 4 fields and press OK.
- The ringtone can be set here.
- Remember to Save.
- Repeat for each myFave contact.
- (Optional) Return to Settings > MyFaves settings > Hide Display.
If you go to the Phonebook > Contact list, the ringtone selection won't have changed. That's because it's aggravating and makes zero sense. What's the point of having two places to change ringtones, but only one place that works? No point, that's what.
It's possible that everyone in the world under 25 has already figured this out and given me a collective "Duh". I can accept that.

Geek-off
In anticipation for Dragon*Con 2007, here's an ode to geeks of all types:
Walking Sports Database Scorns Walking Sci-Fi Database
(The Onion, October 2001)
So, what I get out of this old, non-newsworthy, fake piece of journalism is that knowing too much about any one subject is geeky and people will shun me and they will be right to do so. Okay....I think I'm in the clear. I know stuff about lots of different things, but I don't know too much about any one of them. I must be immensely cool.
I admit, though, this picture of a gathering of Star Wars costumers is kind of both geeky and cool and I don't even really like SW. But who's the dude in the middle with the fanny pack? That's not supposed to be George Lucas, is it? Haha. That's awesome. This guy probably just resembles Lucas, but when he's surrounded by Stormtroopers, Siths and Vaders, he's suddenly in costume. I'd go to Dragon*Con in costume if it was that easy.

Draft Day!
...is over. Man, it was quick. I don't even remember who I selected. I better recap and make sure I don't have a stinkin' New England Patriot on my team:
- Frank Gore (RB, SF) - With his hand unbroken by the first week, he's going to go grape ape this year with an improved 49ers offense.
- Carson Palmer (QB, Cincy) - I'm shocked that I physically could select a Bengal player with his Arena League quality uniform, but I'll root for him this season with my eyes closed.
- Edgerrin James (RB, AZ) - He'll put up great numbers like 2005...because missing out on a Super Bowl championship by one year has got to make anyone bitter. (He used to be a Colt.)
- Andre Johnson (WR, Houston) - He's practically the only real offensive threat on the Texans so Matt Schaub will get the ball to him a lot.
- Calvin Johnson (WR, Detroit) - The rookie from Ga Tech will make an instant impact. It can't get any worse in Detroit, can it?
- Tony Gonzalez (TE, KC) - The musical-chair QB situation in KC means that short dump offs to the TE is a given all season long.
- Vincent Jackson (WR, SD) - Someone's got to be the #1 receiver when LT's not scoring touchdowns. This guy is it.
- Ahman Green (RB, Houston) - With two starting RBs in the top 10 of most fantasy lists, I only plan to use Green in bye weeks.
- Denver (DEF) - Confession: this pick was my way of drafting Champ Bailey since I couldn't draft individual defensive players. I probably didn't need to explain that.
- Mark Clayton (WR, Baltimore) - I'm going to give him some starts depending on the schedule. McNair likes to air it out and Clayton is the Raven's deep threat.
- J.P. Losman (QB, Buffalo) - He's the best QB no one's heard of.
- Jeff Wilkins (K, St. Louis) - Who? Only one of the top 5 kickers in the league, which means crap in fantasy football.
- Randy McMichael (TE, St. Louis) - He's a top 5 TE and I got him in this late round. I guess it shows how much no one pays attention to this position.
- Josh Scobee (K, Jacksonville) - I admit it. I picked him for his name. Skoh-BEE. Awesome.
- Minnesota (DEF) - Some mock drafts had this defense highly rated. Obviously no one I'm playing against saw these drafts.
Whew. I'm Patriot-free. I'm actually very happy with all my picks, especially my pseudo Champ Bailey one. Woo hoo. Are you ready for some football? I'm ready for some Champ!

Oh yeah
I almost forgot I had this site. I've been in a busy place, which technically is in Kentucky. See my mappy proof? And not that I have much room to make fun since I come from a county that has Intercourse, Bird-in-Hand, and Blue Ball as town names, but I think I can dig deep and come up with some ability to mock the town names in this part of the bluegrass state.
I won't even draw your attention to the town names of Hardburly or Hazard (as in "Dukes of") because the awesomeness of Fisty and Typo are more than enough. Then this state, which couldn't decide if it was really North or South during the War of Northern Aggression, gets all hoity-toity with the town of Toulouse. Très bien.
Part of me going all Kentucky on y'all was setting up my new cellphone. There's so much to customize on these things that I only got around to figuring out how to make a call yesterday after having it for half a week. And success! Today, I learned how to answer a call. I know, it's hard to get anything by me.
The ringtones are actually what kept me confused for a few days. But I persevered in spite of the manual and now an Isabelle song plays when the phone "rings".
Okay, you can stop rolling your eyes now. You won't be able to focus on the far-out Isabelle wallpaper on the phone.

Fantasy football
I got bored, drunk and signed up for fantasy football today (not necessarily in that order). Some thoughts while I sober up:
- If TONKS! (Natalia Tena) played football and was a real person and all that, she'd totally be my number one (that's #1!) draft pick. Girl is tough.
- If I can figure out a widget to show how my season progresses, I'll add it...unless it shows my season sucking. Then nevermind. I never said nothing about no widget.
- The Falcons will not be the cellar dweller of the league, no matter how crappy the offseason has been. Look to my other faves (the Raiders) for that awesome distinction.
- TONKS! is awesome, but she's not a real person. I have to remember this.
- Joey Harrington smiles a lot for a football player. Maybe a little too much...
- Everyone wants to draft Ladainian Tomlinson first (even me) and I hate doing what everyone else does. I have to work through this issue soon. My league drafts in two weeks.
- I refuse to draft any New England players, even if they are good and score lots of points and play well every week and all that crap. I have my principles.
- I haven't stopped drinking since I got up this morning and look how I'm still spelling every word correctly. It's both a blessing and a curse.
- If TONKS! was real person, I...should not finish this sentence.

Wii KO
Tapping into our 10 year old selves, we got a Nintendo Wii yesterday. It's as cool as you've heard. If you've heard nothing, you can either see this or stay under that rock of yours. It's all up to you.
I admit to not having a 10 year old body (Freaky Friday hilarity aside, that would be absolutely horrifying...for everyone) so after a few hours of chasing mutant rabbits, throwing cows and boxing, I'm more sore than any person should be from playing video games.
There are some games that require nothing more than finger exercise, but I think that misses the whole point of this particular game console. It's not about the awesomeness of the graphics or the speed of gameplay, but more about how comfortable you are dodging punches coming from your television screen.

Treasure of Ima Wienner
We had a private screening of The Simpsons Movie today. It was the late morning showing and there was absolutely no one else in the theater. Where was everyone? In church? HA.
The movie wasn't as irritating as I thought it was going to be since Homer is my least favorite character and he was in it the most. But Maggie ruled, saving the family twice. Bart and whisky are a winning combination.
There's not too much to say about the plot. It really felt like an episode stretched out 60 minutes longer than normal. Some of the animation, like the flaming torch mob scenes, was noticeably better. Overall, waiting for the DVD release wouldn't be a bad idea. For you, I mean. I don't think I need to see it again. Not even for Bart's naked skateboard ride through town.
